Philosophy:
The Preschool/Mother's Day our program at Grace Presbyterian Church is an extension of the ministry to the children and families of this church, and an outreach to the children and families of our community.

We are dedicated to assisting families in all areas of their child's education: spiritual, mental, physical, social and emotional. We believe that children learn best through play and a variety of hands-on experiences. Emphasis is placed on the whole child, and our goal is to provide experiences that will help each child develop to his full potential as a child of God.

Mother's Day Out:
This program is for children ages 3 months through age 2. It is primarily a program of play, socialization, and interacting with other children and adults. We offer parents a warm and caring environment in which to leave their children so that they may enjoy a time away. Children in the MDO will be introduced to basic skills of following directions, listening, safe play, and love and respect of self and others.

Preschool:
Children who are ages 3 and 4 years old be September are enrolled in our Preschool program. Children will engage in many activities that will develop their social, emotional, and development skills. The daily classroom routine includes free play, circle time, center time, and outside play. The children rotate in groups of 2-3 through learning circles designed to correspond with the topic of study or skill focus. Our goal is to prepare them for a smooth transition to kindergarten.

5 yr old Kindergarten:
Children who are 5 years old are enrolled in our kindergarten program. This probram follows the Alabama Course of Study for 5K and offers the advantages of smaller class size, shorter school day, more individualized attention and a loving Christian environment. Our 5K teacher, Tracy McWhorter, holds a Master Degree in Early Childhood Education and has 10 years teaching experience. She is an incredible teacher and we are so blessed to have a teacher of her caliber at Grace.

Hours of Operation:
Our hours are 9:30-1:30 each day. Children in the 3 yr old, 4 yr old and 5K classes are dropped off and picked up in "car-line" each day. The times for car-line drop off are 9:25-9:40 and pickup are 1:25-1:40. Infants, toddlers and 2 yr olds are to be walked into their classrooms by parents and picked up there as well.
